About Us
Newthorpe was a village, and now a suburb, located a mile south of Eastwood, Nottinghamshire.
We are a Christian Church affiliated to the Baptist Union of Great Britain.
During the early part of the 1800s people were gathering in cottages in Newthorpe to worship in the baptist tradition supported by members from Ilkeston, Derbyshire. In 1828 the chapel was built and the church became independent of the Ilkeston congregation in 1875. Eastwood Baptist Church was planted from Newthorpe at the turn of the last century.
Today the church thrives with worship, study, activities and great cups of coffee throughout the week. We are a diverse congregation of young and old, married and single, and various ethnic cultures which makes our spiritual expression colourful and rich.
We welcome visitors and newcomers and pray that all who pass through our doors may sense belonging and blessing. |
